Coleslaw is a classic side dish with many different variations. Everyone has their own preference on how they like their coleslaw. I personally like a sweet mayo based coleslaw. It may not be the healthiest side dish but it’s also something that I don’t eat all the time. When I do have coleslaw, I love it. It’s taken me some time to perfect my coleslaw but I think I’ve gotten pretty close. I’m here to share my coleslaw recipe and hope you can enjoy it too!
Coleslaw is pretty easy to make. You’re not cooking anything, you’re just mixing a few ingredients together. You’ll need mayo, salt, black pepper, lemon, sugar, apple cider vinegar, and coleslaw mix. Coleslaw mix consist of grated green and red cabbage, and carrot. You can make this yourself but for me I found it easier to buy the pre packaged mix.
The measurements below are what suits my tastebuds. Everyone enjoys coleslaw differently. Some like less sugar, some prefer more mayo. Use the below recipe as a guide or a template and taste as you go. Adjust the measurements until you reach your desired taste.
Making coleslaw is super easy but the key to making a crowd pleasing coleslaw is to let it marinate. Yes this is key. Once you mix everything together, let it sit in the fridge for a few hours to let the ingredients marinate and mix together. I’m sure there’s a science behind it but trust me and do not skip this step. It will give you better satisfying coleslaw if marinated.
