First of all. Happy 1 month to me! It’s been 1 month since I started my new year new me… kind of series on my blog. After all the junk I ate around the holidays, I decided to embark on a healthy eating journey in 2021 and to document it. If you want to catch up the my previous posts you can check it out here.
In this week’s post I’m going to talk all about cheat meals. Yes the dreaded or not so dreaded cheat days. This healthy eating journey is all BALANCE. Yes we want to be making healthy choices but we want to enjoy life too you know? This is a long term journey not short term. Lifestyle not diet.
I am definitely pro cheat days. For one I am a food blogger so there are certain foods that aren’t the healthiest that I am offered or need to try. But it’s all about BALANCE. How do I balance junk with healthy options.
For one, weekdays are my eat clean days. As I mentioned previously I do intermittent fasting eating between 12-8pm. I plan my meals on the weekend and keep my meals pretty uniformed throughout the week. Saturdays are my “eat whatever that’s leftover from the week” day. I’ve dedicated Sundays to the day I have my cheat meal. Key word is cheat meal not day. One day of the week I get to enjoy whatever meal I want. I notice it actually motivates me to eat clean throughout the week and that meal is my “reward”.
I noticed in the diet culture there are some negative stigma around “cheat meals”. Whether you are on a weight loss or weight gain journey, it’s really important to establish a long term positive relationship with food. To do so, you have to have BALANCE and that’s what we’re striving for. It’s all about eating in moderation.
So say yes to that cheat meal!
