It’s about a week before Christmas, maybe even less by the time you read this and you still haven’t gotten your gifts. Gift giving can be tricky especially when your getting gifts for multiple people and for people you may not know as well. This year due to the current COVID-19 lockdown restrictions, many of us opted to shopping online for the gifts. Well if you haven’t ordered at this point, unless you have Amazon prime, your gift will be late. Therefore I am here to help. I’ve created an edible food gift guide for all you last minute shoppers. Ideal for someone that loves food and sweets. This guide can be used for any gift giving occasion aside from Christmas such as birthdays and special occasions.
1. A Box of Chocolate
I love a nice box of chocolate. This is an easy “safe” inexpensive gift if you know the person loves sweets. It is also a convenient purchase that you can buy at your local grocery store, retail pharmacy shop, or chocolate shop. Chocolate shops such as Lindt inside malls are currently close. Shopper’s Drug Mart has a nice selection of boxed chocolate that can be used as a gift.
2. Food Subscription
There’s tons of food subscription boxes from Hello Fresh where you get fresh ingredients delivered to your door to make a meal, to snack subscription boxes. These subscriptions are usually on-going so for a gift, I would just pay for the first month, and cancel the subscription afterwards.
3. Food Delivery Gift Card
Food delivery services such as UberEats, SkiptheDish, and DoorDash have been a big hit especially during the pandemic as we’ve all been spending a lot of time at home. Give a gift card to one of these services as a gift and I promise they will not be disappointed.
4. Gift Basket
Gift baskets are such a classic because it’s a bunch of things all wrapped up in a pretty basket. Gives someone options. Gift baskets are usually categorized such as chocolates, or savoury snacks etc, therefore pick according to the person’s taste bud. There’s a bunch of gift basket delivery services online but because this is a last minute option, I would recommend going into a store such as Shopper’s Drug Mart to get the gift basket.
5. Pastry Box
A box of macarons? Or a box of cupcakes. It doesn’t even have to be something sweet, you can get a box of baked goods like croissant. The holidays are meant to enjoy and if you’re on this blog you must enjoy food.
What are some other last minute food gift ideas you would recommend. Maybe you went ahead and actually bought the gift on time. Good for you! Another great thing to do this holiday season is donating at your local food drive. Feel free to follow me @foodiie.diary on Instagram for more food adventures!
