Meat & Pie Co

It’s patio season and because Toronto, at the time, was at Stage 2 of reopening, dining out was patio only. Meat & Pie Co specializes in bbq and pie. This spot is completely halal so no alcohol is served.

Meat & Pie Co

We wanted to try a little of everything which is why we went for the “BBQ for Two” ($85) meal. This included:

1lb smoked brisket,

1 smoked tandori half chicken

2 Mac n cheese

2 cornbread

2 nashville hot fried pickle

2 sweet pie 5”

On top of all of the above, there was also coleslaw, kettle chips, and waffle sweet potato fries as sides.

Mac n cheese

We got to pick the type of mac n cheese we wanted; I went for a classic while my fiancé went for beef bacon mac n cheese.

The portion was intense I must say and I knew there was no way I would finish the whole thing which was fine for me because that just means dinner for the next day 🙂

Mac n cheese

I started with the mac n cheese which was nice and cheesy just like I like it. I really was only able to get 4-5 spoons just to make sure I still had enough room to at least try everything else.

Next was the brisket and cornbread. Probably my least 2 favourite of the meal. The brisket was juicy and tender but lacked some salt and flavour. I definitely used a lot of bbq sauce on the brisket. As for the cornbread, this was a jalapeno cornbread. My personal preference I prefer a classic plain cornbread on the sweeter side and this was just not it for me.

Fried pickle

Fried pickle! A classic, can’t really go wrong with it unless you hate pickles.

tandoori chicken

My favourite part of the meal was definitely the tandoori chicken. Not too dry and packed full of flavour. Definitely saved the best for last.

The sides definitely complimented the dish and my favourite was the coleslaw.

banana pie

After such a great meal we almost forgot there was dessert, the pies. We got a banana cream pie and a classic apple pie. The banana cream pie was really good but just not my thing. The flavour gave me a pudding vibe which I am not a fan of pudding.

Meat & Pie Co

Overall I would highly recommend this place especially if you are looking for some Texas style bbq and you love meat. But come with an empty stomach because you’ll definitely leave full.
